Wendy Salomon
Executive Director
In 2008, Wendy Salomon began tutoring equestrian students year-round in all the humanities through AP and college levels plus lower levels in math, science, and Spanish. In 2014, Wendy launched Signature Academics with a mission to provide exceptional academics for students and families for whom education and academic integrity are always the top priority. In addition to ensuring that students learn and achieve academically in all their subjects, Wendy and her team coordinate the details of curriculum, assignments, and exams with students’ full-time schools and develop custom programs as needed, including seasonal, one-to-one accredited school. An avid equestrian herself, Wendy is dedicated to ensuring that students excel in the classroom and in the show ring, without having to choose one over the other. Wendy holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in History of Art and Architecture from Brown University. She also completed a summer semester course at the Voyageur Outward Bound School in Minnesota.
Wendy’s past experience includes roles as Vice President, Account Management at LinkShare Corporation, an Internet marketing company in New York City. Before LinkShare, Wendy worked at MTV Consumer Products, at an advertising agency with clients like Procter & Gamble, and at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
Laura Atkinson
Academic Dean
Laura Atkinson is a professionally certified educator and administrator with over a decade of teaching experience at the high school and middle school levels. She holds an M. Ed. in Exceptional Student Education and certification in middle grades math (including algebra 1, algebra 2, and geometry), secondary biology, secondary social studies, and exceptional student education with endorsements in Reading K-12 and ASD. Laura has focused on instructional and curriculum design in all certified areas with a special interest in how best to meet the needs of all types of learners. She focuses on strategies to complement the strengths of each student. In addition to classroom teaching, Laura has significant knowledge and experience in managing standardized testing processes, from preparing students to take various standardized tests through administering the tests (ACT, SAT, all AP's) at local high schools.
Like many educators, Laura has also had a long and successful career in one-to-one tutoring. She loves teaching a variety of subjects, including reading, writing, math through algebra 2, biology, chemistry, social sciences (psychology, economics, government), and standardized test preparation (SSAT, ISEE, ACT, SAT, GRE, certain AP exams). Laura especially enjoys integrating study skills and executive function support for her one-to-one students.
